Must-Have Equipment for a Successful Bounce House Rental Business

Are you looking to start or grow your bounce house rental business? One of the key factors in ensuring your success is having the equipment to get the job done right. In this post, I will discuss the must-have equipment for a successful bounce house rental business.

  1. Bounce Houses: The most essential equipment for your bounce house rental business is, of course, the bounce house itself. Make sure to invest in several different sizes and styles to ensure you can accommodate a variety of events. Look into square bounce houses, combo units, obstacle courses and interactive games. Stick with neutral colors and purchase high-quality commercial-grade bounce houses. Commercial grade bounce houses are sturdy, safe, and durable, ensuring customer satisfaction and safety. You want bounce houses that will last years, not days. Purchasing from reputable manufacturers that offer commercial grade units will ensure years of success in this industry.

  2. Blowers: To keep your bounce houses inflated and secure, you will need high-quality blowers. Make sure to invest in blowers that are reliable and powerful enough to keep the bounce houses inflated throughout the rental period. Be sure to check with the bounce house manufacturer on which blowers they recommend for their units. You will need to make sure each bounce house has the correct size blower per the manufacturer requirements, to ensure the unit is inflated correctly. Always purchase extra blowers as they tend to go bad from time to time.

  3. Tarps: Tarps are used for protecting the bounce houses from wear and tear and keeping them clean between rentals. Use tarps for wet rentals; such as, water slides, wet combo units, and wet obstacle courses. Using tarps keep the units from getting really muddy and helps cut down cleaning time.

  4. Stakes:

Metal stakes are used to secure the bounce house to the ground. Check with your bounce house manufacturer on the staking requirements. The manufacturer will recommend the stake size and quantity required for each bounce house. Stakes come in a variety of sizes and styles, and depending on the bounce house you are setting up, the stake requirements could change from bounce house to bounce house.

  5. Sandbags:

Sandbags are necessary for securing the bounce houses in places where you cannot use stakes. You can make your own sandbags or purchase sandbags from a bounce house manufacturer. Sandbags should be secured to the bounce house at all tie-down locations per manufacturer requirements. Each tie-down location on the bounce house will have a specific weight requirement, if stakes cannot be used. Always check with the manufacturer to ensure you have the correct amount of weight at each tie-down location.

  6. Dolly: Moving and transporting bounce houses can be physically demanding. Investing in a sturdy dolly can help save time and energy when setting up and taking down the bounce houses at events. The size and style of dolly you need will depend on the weight of the bounce houses you are moving. For smaller 13x13 square bounce houses or 15x15 square bounce houses, you could use a lower cost small hand truck that could be purchased from a local hardware store. For heavier water slides or obstacle courses, you may need to invest in larger dollies that are rated for 1,000 pounds or more. Many dolly manufacturers are now offering motorized dollies that are battery powered. While these dollies are more expensive, it could save your back in the long run.

  7. Extension cords:

Be sure to purchase heavy gauge 12/3 extension cords. Most manufacturers require blowers be plugged in at a maximum of 100 feet from the outlet. We use 50 feet extension cords and never use more than two for each bounce house (100 feet total). Some extension cords also have lights on the plug to show that there is power.

  8. Cleaning Supplies: Keeping your bounce houses clean and well-maintained is crucial for the longevity of your equipment and the satisfaction of your customers. Invest in cleaning supplies such as Lysol cleaner, Simple Green solution, and a mold/mildew remover. You will also need to purchase towels, scrub pads and brushes to ensure your bounce houses are always in top condition.

In conclusion, having the right equipment is crucial for the success of your bounce house rental business. Investing in high-quality bounce houses, equipment and supplies will help you provide a safe and enjoyable experience for your customers. Remember, happy customers are likely to return and recommend your services to others, helping your business grow for years to come.
